Tsonga is a French tennis player. He was a wildcard entry to Wimbledon, but has shocked the field by winning 3 rounds by beating Benneteau, N Lapentti, & F Lopez, & reaching the Final 16 of the Men's Singles draw, where he'll face his fellow countryman & "young gun" Gasquet.

Team Alien, Vol 3 Sam Cassell

Sam Cassell, veteran NBA player, & alien. The guy looks both like a "traditional alien" as well as Ferengi.

Cassell could be the captain of Team Alien. His wiki article actually mentions that he looks like an alien, & that a former assistant coach said "he may be from Mars". WTF!

Team Alien, Vol 2 Reggie Miller

I'm selecting the great NBA player Reggie Miller for Team Alien, although he doesn't look like the typical alien. Miller kinda looks like the Ferengis of Star Trek.

Georgetown: The Next Generation

In 1984 Georgetown coach John Thompson & star junior center Patrick Ewing lead the Hoyas to a national championship beating Houston.

Today, in 2007, I caught the end of the quarterfinal (aka regional final) game where in overtime the "TNG" Hoyas beat North Carolina, which included the sons of the 1984 guys, coach John Thompson III & junior Patrick Ewing Jr (not the team MVP like his dad but one of the key players).

This is remarkable - I never heard of such a story in sports. I wonder if it gives Georgetown guys confidence going into the Final 4, as in "our dads did it, why can't we do it?"

Note - I haven't watch one NCAA game this season. The only player I know of is the last host country champion of the French Open, Yannick Noah, has a son Joachim that plays for Florida. Otherwise I have no frickin clue.

But of course, in these brackets, knowledge seems to have no relation to success. 8-year old daughters routinely son college hoop nerd experts in office pools, so WTF.

My alma matter Iowa State & my hometown U of Minnesota didn't even make "the big dance", so really I have "no dog in this fight".

The closest "dog in this fight" I have then are my folks' alma matter Purdue, & my mom's hometown Louisville. I also am down with the "Zags" (Gonzaga) since they were the last real small school underdog I recall doing big damage & making the Final 4.

Big picture on my picks: I got Kansas, Florida, Memphis, & North Carolina making the Final 4. In the final I got Kansas beating UNC.
