The Davis cup doubles match right now is classic. It's on the Vs channel, or replayed at 8p ET on The Tennis Channel.

Davis Cup QF - ESP @ USA
USA is playing the QF Davis Cup match this weekend at home in Wiston Salem, NC on indoor hard court.
Roddick has been somewhat injured & Blake has been in a slump the last few months, but they should be able to geterdone. ESP best player Nadal is injured and out of the lineup.
If A-Rod & J-Block can't "hijar"/son the clay court-preferring Spaniard players like Robredo & Verdasco, that will be very sad.

Book filesharing sites
I have seen it all now.
There are some sites that apparently share books in pdf format, including textbooks.
I haven't tried any yet, so not sure how they works. However, it seems the file size is smaller than with music, so it should be quicker.

MP3Gain
I've been using this free open source app MP3Gain recently. This app normalizes the volume of an mp3. For me, this is great, since I had a yearly playlist for the year 2006 on my mp3 player. A few songs were real loud or soft, so I had to frequently change the volume on my speakers.
I tried a test of using MP3 Gain on that set of mp3s. The test worked in that I don't have to adjust the volume anymore.

Lifehacker
This site Lifehacker is great for consumer IT. Lifehacker tracks new developments in several areas including computers, mp3 players, open source applications. It's incredible the amount of things one can do now with a PC, if one learns how to do it. Lifehacker also has a few random non-computer related "consumer reports", such as how to clean stuff.
I once had a question on a post. I e-mailed the post's author, and he quickly e-mailed me back with what he knew. Don't know if this "free consulting" is standard or not, but it was pretty cool.

Aterciopelados "Cancion Protesta", & the status of Freedom of Speech in 2007 USA
Shout out to Atreciopleados, the Colombian rock group.
Their album "Oye" was one of my favorites of 2006. Those who like rock, or like latin music, or like music with positive lyrics, should check this out, even if they don't speak spanish. It's mainly rock but has elements of the music of the indigenous Colombian people ("Native Americans" in US lingo).
During the Gee Dubbz regime, Dubbz has often made ridic, un-democratic, un-patriotic statements such as
"if you're not with us, you're with the terrorists"
In turn the timid bitchmade Democratic politicians, with a few exceptions like Russ Feingold, are usually too lame & timid to point out that this is obviously undemocratic.
There is a quote by Thomas Jefferson or another of the US "founding fathers". I can't source it, but it something like
"if the government is acting against the interest of the public, it's your duty to speak against it. Actually the ones who stay silent in such a situation are the ones who are unpatriotic, not the ones that speak out"
BTW, using Dubbz logic, the following remarkable humans if living in 2007 US would prolly be labeled by Dubbz and his WC crew as "with the terrorists", just for practicing their free speech and civil disobedience.

There are some American politicians, editorial writers, talking heads whose heart is in the right place on these issues of democracy, free speech, and civil disobedience.
Unfortunately, they don't have the eloquence of Aterciopleados singer Andrea Echeverri. Check the lyrics of the chorus of the song "Cancion Protesta" (eg Protest Song) from "Oye". It succinctly and quickly lays out an intellectual ethering of a response to Dubbz' assertion.

Before the song Echeverri explains she's referring to Colombia and the government's "Plan Colombia" program, part of which is ethering the environment of some beautiful rural areas of Colombia by spraying ridic quantities of toxic chemicals to destroy coca crops.
Although Echeverri is talking about Colombia, the same logic is relevant to the USA.
Folks like Cindy Sheehan who protest the Iraq war are NOT UNPATRIOTIC, in fact they are the MOST PATRIOTIC for exercising free speech against Dubbz' Iraqi policy. In Sheehan's view, and most Americans' view, Dubbz' Iraqi policy doesn't benefit the public, the average Joe in the US or Iraq. So Sheehan is an American patriot for expressing her view, word to MLK Jr.

This group Shinsight Trio made a great jazz-rap album, one of the best albums of 06, Shallow Nights Blurry Moon.
I guess it was released in Japan, it was tremendously slept on though. I only found out about it via rateyourmusic.com. It seems that hiphopsite and the other rap sites/blogs all went Schiavo-comatose on this album. Hopefully they at least got some recognition in Japan.
The MC Insight is from Boston. The other 2 dudes in the group are the Japanese cats, the producer Shinski, & a DJ for the scratches on the 1s & 2s.
If you like jazzy rap beats you should definitely listen to this. Insight is a good MC also.

article - Rounding Off Their Figures
Interesting article on the "standard of beauty" for women in American society.
Anything that work against the "waif steez" standard is great IMHO.
Personally I find the super-skinny anorexic girls like the Olson Twins unattractive. But even for those that are attracted to women with a waif body type, it's not healthy for American girls & women that get depressed and get eating disorders trying to chase a ridiculous standard.
One thing that is annoying though is that it seems its not really pointed out that there are more "body types" then waif or fat. They are missing out on the 3rd "beautiful curvaceous" steez category. Trust me, if the average anorexic women gained 30 pounds they would not magically look live curvaceous beauties like Jessica Biel, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce Knowles, or Serena Williams. In turn, there's a reason that actual fat women don't look like curvaceous crew. Some of that T&A is genetic and a glorious seeming violation of the laws of gravity.
Just like most women, despite extreme starving or exercising, can't attain the waif steez, most women don't have the genetics for curvaceous steez.
The main tragedy is the anorexic women who chase the waif steez, because that is an actual serious health problem. However, the unacknowledged 2nd tragedy is the women that are blessed with curvaceous genetics, that sabotage her figure to chase the waif steez. Props to J-Lo who achieved success while resisting the urge to do this self-sabotage.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki - gulliest dude ever
The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon visited Iraq to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. During the press conference a bomb went off.
Check how Ban Ki-moon, like any normal human, is shook. But Maliki is chillin & doesn't even move! WTF!
